Free Fishing Day

The Town of Oneida will host a Free Fishing Day contest for youth at Oneida City Park on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and fishing will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The first 200 participants will receive a free back pack stuffed with goodies.

RULES

1. Bring your own fishing rod and bait. No fishing gear will be provided.
2. Registration will begin at 8am and end at 9am.
3. Children must be present at the time of registration.
4. The competition begins at 9am. There will be no fishing before 9am, whether you are in the contest or not.
5. All fish that do not qualify as the longest or heaviest in the age category should be put back into the lake.
6. No boats are allowed for this competition due to the presence of children around the boat dock.
7. In an effort to prevent injuries, there will be no fishing from the fishing piers during the competition.
8. Prizes will be awarded at 11am to kids in each age group for the longest and heaviest fish.

Age groups are as follows:
• 3-5
• 6-8
• 9-12
• 13-15

Children who catch the longest and heaviest fish in each age category can only claim one prize. If this happens, the second-place winner will be awarded the prize.

Children must be present at 11am to receive prizes.
